Sharp Elite

CalMAN Setup Guide

The Sharp Elite display provides controls to calibrate two point or 10 point grayscale. It also provides

controls to calibrate the CMS primary and secondary color gamut.

Required CalMAN Version:

 Version 5.1.1, build 1188 or later

Recommended CalMAN Workflows:

 HT Advanced or SI Advanced to optimize Picture controls and calibrate grayscale and CMS.

Required Sharp Elite Firmware:

 Any version is acceptable

Sharp Elite Control Connection:

 DB-9 female to DB-9 female null-modem RS-232 cable (pin2 to pin3, pin3 to pin2), or

 Ethernet straight through (standard) cable for direct connection, or

 Wireless (WiFi) connection

Sharp Elite Setup Process:

To connect the calibration computer to a Sharp Elite with a serial cable:

1. Connect a DB9 female to DB9 female straight through RS-232 cable between the display and the

CalMAN computer. (If necessary, use a 3.5mm jack to DB9 female adapter. Also, if necessary,

use a USB to serial adapter)

To connect the calibration computer to a Sharp Elite with a wired or wireless network connection:

1. Connect both the display and the CalMAN computer to a DHCP-capable network router with

straight through ethernet cables, or

2. Connect the CalMAN computer to a wireless network to which the display is already connected

(may require a security password).

a. In the Sharp main MENU, select Initial Setup -> Internet Setup -> Network Setup ->

Connection Type -> Wired (for direct ethernet connection), or Wireless (for wireless WiFi

connection).

b. In the Sharp main MENU, select Initial Setup -> Internet Setup -> Network Setup -> IP

Setup, then record the IP Address.

c. In the Sharp main MENU, select Initial Setup -> Internet Setup -> Network Setup -> IP

Control Setup, then select Change, then Enable, then Next.

d. On the resulting IP Login screen, make sure the Username and Password fields are

blank, then select Next.

e. Make sure the Port number is set to 10002, then select Next.

f. On the resulting confirmation screen, select OK.
